The first sprint rally Železniki continues the tradition of automobile competitions in Selška dolina. Last automotive competition - GHD Sorica was in the vicinity of Zelezniki in 2005.

If we are talking about Rally competitions, there were 27 years pass. Last rally competition in this territory was Rally Kompas in 1987. Most interesting competitor was team Capraro/Vidoni with car group B - Lancia 037
